Services – DataBlocs Deployments and Customization
Our products are standardized and at the same time highly customizable to meet the needs of the individual school districts. Typically our deployments involve the following phases:
a) Reporting Requirements Analysis: In this phase, we sit down with all the stake-holders in the school district to understand and analyze their reporting requirements. This phase drives the customization of our KPIs to meet the needs of individual districts as well as gives the opportunity for the end users to design new reports and dashboards to supplement our standard set. This is a highly involved process which can last anywhere from a few weeks to a few months. The end result of this analysis is used in the final customization of either DataBlocs Abacus® or DataBlocs K-12 BI®
b) Data Integration Services: In parallel to the Reporting Requirements Analysis, we typically engage all the data providers to understand the existing source data sources and stores. Using this analysis and the results of the reporting requirements analysis, we customize our standard Extraction, Transformation and Loading (ETL) scripts for the individual school district. This ensures a robust infrastructure to load data from multiple sources to our DataBlocs K-12 Standard Data Model®
c) Data Governance and Metadata Management: Once we understand the existing data stores and the overall goal of the entire system, we develop recommendations for Data Governance and Metadata Management for the district using our standard DataBlocs Data Model®. Having one single version of the truth is very important and this can be achieved by using our robust infrastructure and by customizing this module of our Data Model product.
d) Customization: All school districts are different in terms of their expectations for the end goal, on the reporting side or the data side. So, typical engagements have a customization component to customize one or more of our solutions: DataBlocs Abacus®, DataBlocs K-12 BI® and DataBlocs K-12 Standard Data Model®. This ensures consistent look-and-feel as well as desired visualizations which make it easy to blend our solutions with the existing infrastructure.
